What is Sociali?

Sociali is a ride sharing app that enables you to request rides from your trusted friends, for yourself or for your family. You can also offer rides to your friends and their family members.

2.    Login with Facebook OR Create an account with your email

3.    Join the Provider Group

Ø Goto Menu -> Groups, Search for group code or search for business name, and Request to Join

Done! You can offer or request a ride as soon as your Request to Join the group is approved by the Provider. To request or offer rides immediately, add members to your Personal Groups.

Get more out of the app:

To quickly select kids for Requests or Offers: Setup kids in Menu -> Add Family

How do I benefit from the app?

Sociali frees you up from always having to ferry your family members for soccer, school, birthdays and many more such daily activities. It saves you time, reduces stress and improves your family life experience.

Is it free?

Yes, for now. There is no real money exchanging hands, just our own virtual currency called "Karma points* (KPs)".

What are Karma points* (KPs, coming soon) ?

KPs are the virtual currency that is used on the Sociali platform, instead of real money. You spend KPs to get rides and you earn KPs by providing rides. We give you many KPs to get started. At this time, you cannot convert these KPs to any real money.

Do I need to pay for the rides?

Not yet. At this time, you don't have to pay any real money to get rides. Sociali uses its own virtual currency called "Karma points* (KPs)" that you spend to get rides and you earn by providing rides. We give you many KPs to get started.

Do I earn money by providing rides?

Not yet. Sociali uses its own virtual currency called "Karma points* (KPs)" that you spend to get rides and you earn by providing rides. At this time, you cannot convert these KPs to any real money.

What is the Trusted Group (TG)?

The TG is your private set of friends that you trust with ferrying your family around. You create this group by selecting friends you trust from the list of your phone contacts (or contacts imported from Facebook). Only add those people to the TG who you are comfortable with entrusting your family member with.

We do not notify the members of your TG when you add or remove them. The TG relationship is not mutual, unlike a Connection.

Who provides the rides?

At this time, your friends who you have selected to be part of your Trusted Group provide the rides.

What is an Invite (under the Connect & Invite menu)?

Invite is simply a way to spread the word to your friends to try out the app. If a friend signs up on Sociali via your invitation, you receive Karma points*. An invite does not Connect you with the friend, nor add them to your Trusted Group.

What is a Connection (under the Connect & Invite menu)?

A connection is a two-way link with you and a friend (a Connection request has to be accepted for the Connection link to be established) that lets each other see the Rides offered by them.

A Connection does not mean that they are also part of your Trusted Group. You must add them explicitly to the Trusted Group if you want them to be part of that group.

Does the app guarantee that I will be able to get a ride?

No. However, you can increase your chances of getting a ride by sending your request to a larger group of Trusted friends.

Security, Privacy, Safety

Why am I restricted from using the app unless I verify my email?

We take security very seriously (being parents ourselves, we understand the high standards we need for children). We want to ensure you are a verified member before you can reach out to others to request/offer rides, so that your friends can be sure that it is you.

How can I be sure that the member I am adding to my Trusted Group, or Connecting with, is who they claim they are?

First, we verify the emails of new members, to ensure that they are who they claim to be (“authentication”). Next, we only add those verified members to your Trusted Group, or Connections List, whose email matches what you have in your phone Contacts. In this manner, we ensure that the other verified member is who you think they are based on the information you have about them. If they use a different email to sign up, then you will not be Connected to them, nor will they get added to your Trusted Group.

How can I trust the Driver?

The Driver is a friend you know, selected from your phone Contacts (or added by you), and someone who you added to the Trusted Group, or you selected to send the Ride Request to. These several steps imply you trust the person. If not, please remove them immediately from your Trusted Group.

How can I be sure that the Driver is who they claim they are?

We only send requests to members who have verified their email (and, coming soon, their phone number as well), so they are authenticated members.

Why should I provide my phone number?

As a parent, you want to be immediately reachable by the Driver of your family member, and conversely, as the Driver, you want to be immediately reachable by the Parents of the family members you are ferrying.

Can I track my family members ride in real time?

Yes, their location should auto update every few seconds when you are looking at the Current ride, assuming the Driver has enabled Location Services on their phone and has cellular reception.

How do I know when my family member has been picked up or dropped off?

We notify you via in-app notifications and via email when the Driver indicates they have picked up and dropped off your family member.

Who can see the rides I Request or Offer?

Request: if you sent your Request to the Trusted Group, only its members can see your Request. If you sent the Request to Selected Contacts, then the people you select can see your Request.

Offer: Only your Connections can see your Offer.

Day to day usage

Requesting Rides and related
How do I add my family members?

Go to Menu => Add Family, to add your family members. Later, you can select one or more of them to Request a Ride for.

What is "Me" on the Request a Ride screen? 'Me' is you :) . Using 'Me' you can request a ride for yourself.

How do I request a ride?

Simply click on the Request a Ride button (on the Home screen) or the Quick Access menu in the top right corner (the "+" sign), to get to the Request screen. You can quickly fill the information by selecting an earlier Request (from the Search bar), or enter the information easily: select the family members who the ride is for, provide the From, To, Date & Time. Optionally indicate if the pickup time is approximate (between the two times). Then send this request to Send to Trusted Contacts, or click "Send to Selected Friends" to select the friends this request is broadcast to, Voila! Your request has been made. You can see your requests in "My Requests".

What is My Requests?

All information related to your Requests is in this section

Upcoming -> Pending screen: This shows all your open ride requests , that no friend has offered to provide yet.

Upcoming -> Accepted screen: This shows all your ride requests, that some friend is going to provide.

Current screen: Your rides requests that are currently being fulfilled are shown here. It provides near-real-time updates of where your ride is.

When and Why should I mark a Ride as complete?

The Driver marks the ride complete when they have Dropped Off the family member. You will receive a notification when the Driver indicates that they have Dropped Off the passenger.

What if someone cancels a Ride Request?

If the Requestor cancels a Ride that you have already Offered (Accepted) to provide, you naturally don't have to provide it anymore.

Offering Rides and related
How do I offer a ride?

Simply click on the Offer a Ride button (on the Home screen) or the Quick Access menu in the top right corner (the "+" sign), to get to the Offer screen. You can quickly fill the information by selecting an earlier Offer (from the Search bar), or enter the information easily: provide the From, To, Date & Time, and the number of available seats in your car. Optionally indicate if the pickup time is approximate (between the two times). Then click "Offer this Ride" . Voila! Your offer is visible to all your Connections. You can see your offers in "My Offers".

What is My Offers?

All information related to your Offers is in this section.

Upcoming -> Open screen: This shows all your offered rides that are still available. If you offered a ride with multiple seats, and only some seats were filled by Requests, then the rest of the seat(s) will continue to show here as an Open offer. You can cancel the open Offers at any time.

Upcoming -> Accepted screen: Your ride Offers that have been requested by friends are shown here.

Current screen: The ride that you are currently providing is shown here. A near-real-time update of your location is provided to the requestor whose family member you are ferrying.

Why do I need to enable location services in the app? Is my location public?

Location services needs to be enabled so that you can easily select current location, and more importantly, provide near-real-time updates of your location if you are providing a ride. Your location is not public, and is provided only to the person(s) who had requested your ride, and only while you were providing the ride.

Who can see the rides I offer? Who's offered rides can I see?

Only people who are Connected to you can see your offered rides, and vice versa. To maximize your and others' benefits from the app, we recommend connecting to as many people as you can trust with ferrying your family members. People in your Trusted Group do not see the rides you offer. You must Connect with Trusted Group members for them to see your rides.

What if someone cancels an Offer?

If you had requested a Ride, and someone offered it, and then they cancel (meaning they cannot provide that ride anymore), we automatically resend your request to the same group of friends you had sent the original request to, if the start time for the ride has not passed.

If someone in your Connections has offered a ride (which you see in Browse Rides), and you Request that Ride, and then they Cancel that ride, naturally, you will not have a ride. However, you could Request a ride again, or Friend Offers to check if another Connection has offered a similar ride.
